Young women at risk for both tobacco use and inactivity share many features, and the literature demonstrates a significant association between inactivity and smoking initiation. Recent evidence suggests that physical activity ought to be an integral part of tobacco cessation interventions and programs. In an effort to promote physical activity as a viable alternative to smoking, the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport (CAAWS) has launched a new contest: Take 5! Coaches can play a part in supporting their efforts by sending a letter to the parents of their athletes. Click here to download the sample letter and Click here to learn more about the contest.
