E-mail Print

In Canada, brain injury is the number one killer and disabler of people under the age of 44. Statistics further indicate that incidences are two times greater within the male population. Coaches can play a vital role in preventing and ensuring the well-being of all athletes in the case of a suspected head trauma. Here's what you can do to get educated on the topic:

  1. Contact your local brain injury association and talk to an expert
  2. Research. SIRC has a number of articles and resources on the subject
  3. Get Educated. There are a number of seminars, including NCCP Module Prevention and Recovery of Injuries
  4. Implement a return to play policy. Hockey Canada has some great samples and guidelines
